♠ Irony, Laughter, Sadness

I'm having all those feelings watching The Answer Man when the writer of the book "The Me & God" chronicles had his back out and the song "Isnt It Romantic" re-ran.

Oh irony, oh how much laughter, yet so much sadness.

He's got some pretty nifty answers:

You wanna know something cool about shaking hands with little people? (he shook hands with the woman he liked's kid)
They see us shaking hands, but they dont know that we squeeze the other person's hand.
So they just hold hands with you for a couple of seconds.

Why cant I do the things I want to do?
There's so much I know I'm capable of that I never actually do. Why is that?
The trick is to realize that you're always doing what you want to do always.
Nobody's making you do anything.
Once you get that, you see that you're free and that life is really just a series of choices.
Nothing happens to you. You choose.

If God made everything then why are some things bad, like for example the whole pain-and-suffering thing?
Opposites; without things that suck, you would have no idea what good was and therefore would be directionless.
You smell shit, and you walk the other way.

Do I have a destiny or is it all free will? Destiny or free will?
Free will; moving toward or away from a purpose.

I'm trying to stay sober and my dad wont stop drinking.
How can I love him even though he's selfish and he's scaring me?
Um..that's hard. I guess whats getting in the way of your expectations; if he'd do "X", then you'd be happy.
It doesnt work that way. I think you have to let go of that and maybe what you want will happen and maybe it wont.
Either way; you're better off.
And you should go to AA meetings.

So what's the deal with heaven and hell anyway?
I've seen hell, and it's name is Reno, Nevada.

*Sigh.

The Answer Man .. just an everyday man who happens to ask the questions and searched for the answers by himself (with or without aid).
